Common questions about AirClip — recording, compatibility, licensing, and privacy.
Snap-Back Recording is AirClip's retroactive capture feature. AirClip continuously buffers audio playing on your PC — system sounds, music, streams, calls — silently in the background. When you trigger Snap-Back, it instantly saves the last 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds of already-played audio to a file. No rewind button. No replay needed. Whatever you heard is captured, retroactively.
By default, Snap-Back captures the last 30 seconds. You can change the buffer duration to 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds from the Snap-Back submenu in the tray, or from Settings > Live Recording. The maximum is 60 seconds.
Yes. DVR Scheduler (Pro) lets you create recurring recording schedules — a weekday morning show, a weekly podcast stream, a nightly broadcast — and AirClip records them automatically whether the app is already open or not. You can also use Automatic Recording mode, which starts recording when audio exceeds a threshold and stops when it goes quiet.
AirClip saves recordings as WAV by default. Pro adds MP3 output with four quality presets: 128, 192, 256, and 320 kbps. Output format and folder are configurable in Settings.
Yes. Pro includes microphone mixing — AirClip records system audio (what is playing through your speakers or headphones) and mixes in your microphone simultaneously, producing a single combined file. You can control the mic level and toggle mute independently from the Mini Deck or tray menu.
Yes. AirClip captures at the Windows system audio level — it records whatever is playing through your speakers or headphones, regardless of which application is producing the sound. This includes Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Discord, Webex, Skype, browser tabs, and any other app.
No special integration or configuration is needed. If you can hear it, AirClip can record it.
No additional drivers are required. AirClip uses Windows' built-in WASAPI loopback API to capture system audio directly. Microphone mixing also works without VB-Cable — AirClip handles the mix internally. VB-Cable is supported as an optional capture source if you already have it installed and prefer to route audio through it.
AirClip runs on Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) and Windows 11, 64-bit editions. It does not support Windows 7, Windows 8, 32-bit systems, macOS, or Linux.
Yes. AirClip records from whatever audio output device is currently set as the default in Windows — wired speakers, headphones, Bluetooth audio, or USB audio interfaces. If you switch output devices mid-session, AirClip follows the Windows default output automatically.
No. AirClip runs entirely on your PC. All recordings are saved to a local folder you specify — nothing is ever transmitted to any server. The only network activity from the app is license verification at first launch and checking for software updates.
AirClip does not collect audio data, usage telemetry, or personally identifiable information from within the app. If you purchase a Pro license, your email address is stored to associate your license and to allow license recovery. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Pro features activate immediately — no restart required.
Purchase is handled from inside the app to bind the license to your machine. Open AirClip, right-click the tray icon, and choose Help > Buy AirClip Pro. This opens the secure checkout page with your machine ID pre-loaded.
